Sustainability is a hot topic across textile and retail industries and straight from consumers, like you and me. Corporate social responsibility and consumer’s desire for natural products are among the factors driving the need for innovative ideas.
The Product Development group in collaboration with Global Supply Chain Marketing from Cotton Incorporated teamed to create four capsule collections in two distinct categories tackling the requests from both businesses and customers. Together the collections feature nearly 50 FABRICASTTM selections (and expanding):
Solutions for Minimal Processing: fabric technologies designed reduce their footprint on the environment by reducing water, energy and chemicals during textile processing.
- Enzymatically Scoured Fabrics: a process using enzymes from Novozymes to clean, polish, and soften. The fabrics are undyed, displaying the natural, pure color of cotton.
- Natural Brown Cotton: inherent genetic properties in the cotton plant produce natural shades of brown, green, and red. The naturally colored brown cotton does not require dyeing, saving water, time and energy during processing.
- EarthColors, a collaboration with Archroma, is a responsible solution for dyeing textiles that utilizes a biosynthetic dye created from cotton byproducts.
Synthetic Microfiber Alternatives: natural fibers such as cotton and cotton/wool blend fabrics designed to insulate and provide warmth instead of synthetic microfiber fleece.
Product developers, manufacturers and retailers look to FABRICASTTM collections to get the most from cotton. Learn more about these Solutions for Minimal Processing and Synthetic Microfiber Alternatives on CottonWorksTM.
