OUR VISION
Our Commitment to Continuous Improvement
The World’s Most Popular Natural Textile is Making Strides in Sustainability
The global population, and its need for food, clothing, and other essential goods, are growing. But the planet isn’t getting any bigger. That means that we need to do more with the land and resources we have – and we need to keep improving how essential items are grown, manufactured and used.
As a natural fiber, cotton depends on the health and vitality of the environment. For more than 40 years, the cotton industry has been dedicated to developing new and enhanced ways to grow, process and manufacture cotton in the interest of protecting and improving the soil, air and climates in which cotton grows.
Since the 1980s, cotton producers have developed and implemented new processes and technologies that are improving the volume, quality, hardiness and footprint of the cotton that ultimately makes its way into our everyday lives. Today’s growers and producers grow more cotton on less land, have reduced water needs by 40%, and halved the number of insecticides applications needed to protect cotton crops.
Our goal is to ensure that cotton agriculture makes best use of the land, with minimal environmental impacts. We want cotton textiles and cotton byproducts to be able to meet the evolving needs of today’s growers and consumers, while also supporting the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. We are committed to both supporting and leading the ongoing research and innovation needed to ensure that cotton is contributing to the more sustainable future we all want to see.
